Having an air purification system in your home can help your indoor air quality. There are a variety of air purification options available for purchase on the market today and they include ozone air purifiers, carbon air purifiers, ionic air purifiers, ultraviolet light air purifiers, and HEPA filter air purifiers.
Ozone air purifiers help to rid your home of strong odors.
Carbon purifiers are the most effective purifiers on the market today because of their absorbency. They can remove cigarette smoke, chemical fumes, odors, bacteria, dust, pollen, mold and spores. The downside of these machines is that they have trouble with allergens and other micro-organisms.
Ionic purifiers ionize the air around them, giving the particulates in the air a positive or negative charge. This enables the machine to remove extremely fine particles from the air and the machine runs quieter than a HEPA filter machine.
Ultraviolet light air purification systems are excellent for one contaminant in particular; micro-organisms that cause diseases. It does not work well with smoke, odors, allergens or chemicals.
HEPA air filter machines use a filter that is almost cloth-like and they can trap 99.9 percent of particles in the air that are 0.3 microns or larger in total size. These air purification systems are used more for capturing allergens then eliminating chemical fumes, cigarette smoke, gases or other fumes.
